Smothered Steaks
4 to 6 hamburger steaks/thick patties*
1 large onion, chopped
1 can diced stewed tomatoes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
prepared noodles or rice
Make them yourself or buy them already made. Cube steaks are not recommended.
Directions:Brown the onions and hamburger steaks together in large skillet until steaks are almost done. Drain fat, if needed.
Mix together tomatoes and soup, and pour over steaks in skillet. Be sure to get the mixture all around the steaks, even underneath.
Cover skillet tightly and simmer the steaks for at least 20 minutes. Add liquid if needed, but if skillet has a tight-fitting lid this won't be necessary.
Serve over prepared rice or noodles
