SLOW COOKER CHICKEN & SAUSAGE

SLOW COOKER CHICKEN & SAUSAGE 1 package smoked sausage 1 onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp chili powder 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese, room temperature 1 1/2 cups chicken stock 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp dried basil In a medium skillet brown sausage over medium heat Remove browned sausage and place in slow cooker Add onion to same skillet and let soften, stirring often, about 5 minutes Stir in garlic, salt & pepper & chili powder and continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes Place chicken breasts into slow cooker, spreading out sausage as necessary to create a single layer Pour cooked onions over chicken and sausage In a bowl whisk together cream cheese, chicken stock, salt, pepper and basil until smooth Pour over chicken and sausage Cook on high for 3-4 hours, or low for 6-7 hours or until chicken is cooked through Serve on it's own or over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles
