Hawaiian Layer Pudding

Hawaiian Layer Pudding 1/2 pound crushed vanilla wafer cookies 3 tablespoons melted butter 1 small package vanilla pudding 1/2 cup chopped nuts 1/2 cup crushed pineapple 1 cup whipped cream 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar maraschino cherries Combine half of the wafers with the melted margarine and press the bottom of an 8 x 8 x 2" pan to make a crust. Prepare the vanilla pudding as directed on package. Pour pudding into pan. Sprinkle a layer of nuts and pineapple. Mix the whipped cream, vanilla, salt, and sugar. (May use Cool Whip in place of this.) Spread over pineapple in rough swirls. Sprinkle top with remaining vanilla wafer crumbs. Add maraschino cherries on top. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
