Mexican Candy
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon soda
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup broken pecans
Salt
Lay out wax paper and sprinkle with salt. Mix the sugar, milk, and soda in a large sauce pan and cook until small amount of mixture forms a softball in cold water; softball stage 234° to 240° on candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Add the butter vanilla and pecans and beat until creamy. Drop from spoon onto prepared wax paper. Allow to set and store in air tight container.
