Coney Island Chili Dogs
Coney Island Chili Dogs
2 tablespoons oil (I use leftover bacon grease)
1 pound ground beef (85/15)
1 small onion, grated
1 teaspoon minced garlic (I use the kind in the jar)
1/3 cup tomato paste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1½ teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Dash of cayenne pepper (may omit if you don’t like it spicy)
1 tablespoon flour
Add oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a wooden spoon. Add remaining ingredients except flour and cook, stirring frequently, until it is all mixed and beef is in very small pieces. At this point, there may be some liquid in the pan, so add the flour to tighten it up. Let it simmer for a few minutes then remove from the heat.
Serve atop hot dogs with toppings of your choice (shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, mustard, relish
