Butter Beans
Butter Beans
****Crock Pot****
3 cups butter beans, sorted and rinsed
4 cups water
2 cups chicken broth
1 medium onion diced
2 cups ham Cubed
5 slices bacon
1 carrot chopped
2 Bay leaves
1 Teaspoon Garlic powder
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Crock Pot
Place all ingredients in crock pot
Cover with water 2 inches above
Cook on high 6-8 hours stirring Midway
Done when reach desired tenderness
*INSTANT POT METHOD*
In a 6 qt. Pot, add water, bay leaves, chicken stock, beans, ham and seasonings.
Set Pot to “SOUP” for 90 minutes. Let Natural Release all pressure.
FOR REALLY SOFT THICK BEANS:
Remove lid and stir well. Set Pot to “SAUTE” and let cook at rolling boil with lid off about ten minutes. Remove bay leaves at serving
Serve hot with fresh bread or cornbread
