BACON CHEESEBURGER SKILLET DINNER
BACON CHEESEBURGER SKILLET DINNER
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tbs chopped onion
1 cup uncooked macaroni (or any similar-shaped pasta)*
1½ cups water*
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
4 slices crisp-cooked bacon, diced
1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Sauce:
1¼ cups ketchup
¼ cup BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray's)
¼ cup mustard
1 tsp sugar (optional)
*Pre-cooked pasta may be substituted for the uncooked. If so, eliminate the water in recipe and add the cooked pasta (approx. 2 cups) with the sauce.
Mix all sauce ingredients in a small bowl; set aside.
Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Brown ground beef & onion; drain any fat.
Add the uncooked pasta, water, salt & pepper. Stir well, making sure pasta is submerged in the water as much as possible. Heat to boiling. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 10 minutes or until water is absorbed by pasta.
Stir in sauce & bacon; heat through over low heat. Top with cheese and replace cover so cheese begins to melt (about 5 minutes).
