Hearty Sausage Baked Beans
1/2 lb. ground breakfast sausage
3/4 C. finely chopped onion
2, 16 oz. cans pork & beans
1/4 C. packed brown sugar
2 T. honey
1 T. ketchup
1 T. yellow mustard
1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1/4 C. real bacon bits
Begin browning the sausage in a skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. About 3/4 of the way through add the onion and cook till sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender. Drain off any grease and add to a bowl along with the beans, brown sugar, honey, ketchup, mustard and worcestershire sauce. Combine well and pour into a lightly greased 2 quart casserole dish. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 45 minutes. Remove and top with the bacon bits and return to the oven for 15 more minutes.
