SPICY GINGER-APPLE CRISP
SPICY GINGER-APPLE CRISP
MAKES 8 SERVINGS.
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 tbs flour
2 1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 3/4 tsp allspice
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground ginger
6 cups sliced peeled apples
6 caramels
1/3 cup orange juice
TOPPING---
3/4 cup each crushed gingersnap cookies and brown sugar
1/2 cup each flour and butter, cubed
Ice Cream
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, mix first 6 ingredients. Add apples, toss. In a pan, combine caramels and orange juice. Cook until caramels are melted. Pour over apple mixture, toss. Transfer to a greased 8" square baking pan.
FOR TOPPING---In a bowl, mix cookies, brown sugar, and flour, cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Bake 4O min. or until apples are tender. SERVE warm with ice cream
