Air Fryer Hamburgers

Air Fryer Hamburgers 1 pound 500 grams Ground beef 80/20 mix of lean beef to fat must be kept cold Salt and pepper 4 Buns Start by making the hamburger mix. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the garlic, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Just fold in the other ingredients in the ground beef and make sure not to over mix the mixture. Using your hands, quickly shape the hamburger patties and place on a tray. You want to make sure that the meat stays cold, because if you overwork the meat then the temperature of your hands will warm the meat up and that can result in really dense hamburgers. To shape the burgers, it’s also a good idea to wet your hands a little as this will prevent the meat from sticking to your hands. Preheat your air fryer to 200c (395f). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray, and place your hamburger patties in the basket and cook to your desired doneness. The best way to check for the doneness of the hamburger is by inserting a food thermometer in the center of the patty (see temperatures in notes below). Now you’re wondering how long are you going to air fry the hamburgers for. This depends on the thickness of your patties, but start with 12 minutes and keep checking until the hamburgers are cooking to your liking. When the burgers are done, place cheese over each patty and the cheese will melt. This will result in a really delicious cheeseburger, and feel free to add more than just one slice of cheese if you like really ‘cheesy’ hamburgers just like my husband does! Toast the buns in the air fryer on the same temperature, keep checking so that they’re not burnt and just toasted. Assemble the hamburgers and use your favorite toppings. I personally like mayonnaise, tomato slices, onion slices, and lettuce.
