Strawberry Dumplings
Strawberry Dumplings
For the berries:
1 1/2 quarts fresh strawberries, washed and sliced
1 C. water
1 C. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a large pot, brng to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 minutes.
For the dumplings:
1 1/2 C. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 T. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 ts. nutmeg
2/3 C. milk
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix well. Drop by Tablespoon fulls into the berry mixture. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
