Crock Pot Navy Beans
1 1/2 C. dried navy beans (no need to soak them)
4 1/2 C. water
1/4 lb. smoked hog jowl
1 beef bullion cube
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 T. bacon grease
salt and pepper to taste
Rinse the beans under cool water and pick out any bad beans or loose shell. Put them in your crock pot along with the water, hog jowl, bullion cube, chili powder and garlic powder. Cover and cook on high for 4 1/2 hours. Add the bacon grease, stir till melted then season with salt and pepper to taste.
