Zesty Onion Petals & Dipping Sauce
1/4 C. mayo
1 T. chili sauce
1/2 tsp. ground horseradish
1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients, place in the fridge while making the onion petals.
1 C. all purpose flour
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 large egg
2 T. milk
1 small onion
veg. oil for frying
Combine the dry ingredients on a plate. Whisk together the egg and milk in a bowl. Peel and quarter the onion, separating the petals. Dip each petal in the egg, then flour, back in the egg and back in the flour, placing on a baking sheet till all are coated. Heat 1/4" oil in a skillet to 350 degrees. Drop petals in the oil, in batches, and cook just a couple minutes till golden brown, drain on a paper towel lined plate.
