Crispy Seasoned Country Fried Steak
4 cubed steak
1 C. buttermilk
1 T. hot sauce
1 large egg
1 C. all purpose flour
1/4 C. corn starch
1 T. creole seasoning
1 T. my house seasoning (equal parts garlic powder, onion powder and pepper...combine and store in an airtight container)
good pinch of salt
veg. oil for frying
Place the cubed steak in a bowl and cover with buttermilk and hot sauce. Place in the fridge for a couple of hours. When ready to fry, combine the flour, corn starch and seasonings. Put half in a ziploc bag and half on a plate. Remove the meat from the fridge and put the meat in the plastic bag of flour. Beat the egg into the buttermilk mixture. Heat the oil in an iron skillet to 325 degrees. Shake the meat in the flour to coat, dredge each one in the buttermilk mixture and then press in the flour on the plate to coat the meat well. Fry till nice and golden brown, about 5-6 minutes per side. Drain on a paper towel lined plate.
