Homemade Baking Powder

How fresh is your baking powder? Here is a simple test can be performed to check it before ruining your recipe. Add 1/2 tsp. baking powder into 1 cup hot water. If it begins to fizz, it is good to use. If you don't get the fizz, toss and buy or make your own: Homemade Baking Powder 4 tsp. of baking soda 8 tsp. cream of tarter Combine the two ingredients to get 1/4 cup of baking powder. Store in air tight container.
