Orange Bundt Cake
For The Orange Bundt Cake
2¼ cups all purpose flour
1½ tsp baking powder
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk*
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp orange extract
2 tbsp orange zest
4-5 drops orange food coloring*
For The Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting
8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar
3-4 drops orange food coloring
Preheat oven to 350° and spray a Bundt pan with a non stick spray right before filling.
For The Orange Bundt Cake
Whisk together flour and baking powder in a medium bowl.
Beat butter and sugar together until creamy then add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
Pour buttermilk, vanilla, orange extract and orange zest into sugar mixture and beat until combined.
Gradually add flour and mix until just combined and then add food coloring. Stir.
Pour into prepared Bundt pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
Carefully remove from oven and let sit for about 5-6 minutes then turn over on wire rack to cool.
For The Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting
Beat cream cheese, butter and vanilla together.
Add 1½ cups of powdered sugar at a time, mix well, then add the remaining 1½ cups. Mix well and then frost cake once completely cooled.
Notes
*To make homemade buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice into a measuring cup then add milk to equal 1 cup.
*If you do not have orange food coloring, add equal drops of red and yellow food coloring to make orange.
