Brown Sugar Cake

Brown Sugar Cake 3 cups all-purpose white flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup milk 1 1/2 cups butter - softened - 3 sticks 1/2 cup white sugar 2 1/2 cups brown sugar - loosely packed 5 eggs 1 teaspoon rum flavoring 1 serving frosting of your choice - I used "best buttercream frosting." Method for Brown Sugar Cake In a medium size bowl, blend together the flour, salt and baking powder. Set aside. In a stand mixer - or you can use a hand mixer or food processor - cream the butter, the white sugar and the brown sugar. Add the eggs one at a time and blend well after each addition. Mix until the mixture is light in color and texture. Add the vanilla and the rum extracts. Combine well. Add the milk and the flour mixture, mix until well combined. Pour into a greased tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let the cake cool, and then you are ready to frost it...if you choose to!
